Recently, in Madison, Wisconsin, Fairway Independent Mortgage Corporation partnered with the American Warrior Initiative to host another AWI Gala. This was a very special event where money was raised to honor two local veterans as well as many more veterans following the event.
The first honoree, Laura Gregory, from Lake Tomahawk, WI, joined the Air Force after graduating from high school in January 2011. Laura enlisted as a linguist and after basic training went to the Defense Language Institute Foreign Language Center in Monterey, CA where she studied Spanish. After a year of training, Laura became fully operational and was stationed in San Antonio, Texas. While in San Antonio, Laura worked at the National Security Agency (NSA) as a language analyst. Laura now suffers from PTS.
The second honoree, Adam Hegee, joined the US Army following the devastating events of September 11. Adam was then stationed at Fort Bliss Texas and deployed to Afghanistan with 1st Armored Division from 2011 to 2012. While on routine patrol in Afghanistan he was hit by an IED, leaving Adam with a traumatic brain injury and PTS. Adam was then medically discharged from the Army in 2013.
The American Warrior Initiative and Fairway Independent Mortgage were able to honor Laura and Adam each with a service dog from Custom Canines. These dogs will help Adam and Laura cope with their PTS as well as with every day life.
Founded by Louise Thaxton and Sean Parnell, the American Warrior Initiative is a non-profit organization sponsored by Fairway Independent Mortgage. The AWI seeks to ease U.S. veterans’ transition from military to civilian life.
I am proud to work for a company that does so much to honor those who sacrifice for our country. If I can help answer any questions about VA loans or any other home loan options, give me a call.Tags: Veterans
